Our
store is staffed primarily by volunteers. This
enables us to offer our customers attractive
prices, while returning the greatest possible
amount to the artisans who create our products.
Your gift of time as a volunteer contributes
directly to making it possible for disadvantaged
artisans in 34 countries to become self-sufficient.
How
Can You Help?
There
are many ways you can share your talents and
interests to become an advocate
for fair trade:
As a volunteer sales associate in our
store, you would:
- welcome
and help customers
- ring
up purchases, answer questions, and take special
orders
- explain
the unique aspect of our nonprofit store and
tell stories about the artisans
- unpack
boxes, help maintain store displays, and move
products when store displays are rearranged
- clean
up the store and recycle packaging
Volunteers
may sign up for two, three, or four-hour shifts.
We ask volunteers to commit to work at least eight
hours per month. In addition to the paid staff
person in charge, we prefer to have two volunteers
on duty.
A
volunteer board of directors oversees the management
of the store, and they are constantly looking
for people with a variety of business skills.
