Become
part of the Fair Trade movement!
1.
Invite someone from our Speakers Bureau to address
your group.
Volunteers from our Speakers Bureau are available
to speak about the ways in which fair trade
is improving the lives of artisans and farmers
throughout the developing world.
• We are happy to visit faith-based organizations,
not-for-profit groups, community-based organizations,
civic associations, organizations with international
interests, school groups, social groups, retirement
communities, and any other group interested
in learning about fair trade.
• The program typically includes brief
remarks and videos, followed by questions and
answers. We will work with you to make sure
the event best meets the needs of your organization.
• For general information about the program
contact the store at 703-684-1435 or email

merchandise at locations away from the store,
including professional conferences and workplaces,
community events, festivals, and church events. We
tailor each sale to the specific audience, bringing
products we think will appeal to your group's

3. Tours and
Shopping Nights
Volunteers
can provide tours of the store for small groups
by appointment. Visits include an introduction
to fair trade (if needed), producers' stories,
and an overview of the products available at
Ten Thousand Villages of Alexandria.
Each
fall, the store partners with select non-profit
organizations for special Shopping Nights. The
evening includes later store hours, as well
as a chance to promote the organization's work
to general store traffic. Co-sponsors are expected
to promote the event among their constituents
and receive 20% of the total sales during the
assigned time. A limited number of nights are
scheduled each fall, so we may not be able to
accommodate every request.

your organization would like to apply for a
special shopping night, please complete this
application
