Our Store
Ten
Thousand Villages Alexandria is a Fair Trade
retail store located at 915 King Street in historic
Old Town Alexandria, Virginia.
The
store is a Section 501 c (3) charitable organization.
Our CFC number is 7164. To contribute, click
on this link.
Our
store was founded in 1994. It is one of approximately
130 stores across North America affiliated with
the Ten Thousand Villages parent organization.
Ten
Thousand Villages is the oldest and largest
Alternative Trade Organization (ATO) in North
America: practicing fair trade since 1946.
Our
store sells merchandise and foods produced by
Third World artisans and farmers who would otherwise
be unemployed or underemployed. They are assured
of fair wages and consistent, reliable purchases.
Approximately
40 volunteers work in the store and serve on
its board of directors. We are always looking
for additional volunteers to help in the store,
serve on its board of directors, and help expand
awareness of Ten Thousand Villages and its mission.
